Not In My Neighbourhood Week - 2 6 November 2009

Not in My Neighbourhood Week 2009 received tremendous support from communities and local partnerships alike with hundreds of activities taking place across England and Wales. The week was launched by Alan Campbell, Minister for Crime Reduction.

Approximately 300 local partners, local police, neighbourhood watch schemes and voluntary groups took part, with the aim of highlighting the work they do to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

Local events included:

  • The launch of a crime reduction guide 'How to Avoid Becoming A Target for Crime' in Manchester.
  • Truancy sweeps involving the police and educational social workers
  • Joint visits by the police/Yorkshire Coast Homes/Sanctuary Housing to residents
  • High visibility patrols
  • Removal of graffiti
  • Dealing with street drinking issues
  • Execution of warrants by the Courts Service
  • Truancy Sweeps
  • Family activity events including firework displays
  • Local clean-ups including Community payback scheme
